Artist: Lukas Graham
Album:
Lukas Graham
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

This is Pop Music sweetened with sorbitol and a pinch of R&B. These positively slanted lyrics are refreshing but tend to reference mama and daddy a bit too much. Each song tends to stand out own their own.
Key Songs: "7 Years", "Don't You Worry 'Bout Me", "You're Not There".
Artist: Deftones
Album:
Gore
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

These guys developed an interesting variety of modern metal music that supports their almost crooning vocals. There are a few stinker tracks, but most are good and a few a very good.
Key Songs: "Prayers/Triangles", "Hearts/Wires".
Artist: Kygo
Album:
Cloud Nine
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

Kygo writes the songs then has feature artists perform the vocals and some other parts. The music is easy enough and can draw you in. The main flaw is his signature theme that recurs on too many tracks.
Key Songs: "Fiction", "Oasis".
Artist: Anohni
Album:
Hopelessness
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

There seems to be a disconnect between the lyrics and the music on this record. In fact, the songwriting might have been a necessary evil. Perhaps Anohni should have written an ebook or a blog.
Key Songs: *none*.
Artist: Beyonce
Album:
Lemonade
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

Beyonce dug down deep for this disc. You get her usual sensational vocals and amped up emotions. As a bonus there is a good shot of songwriting.
Key Songs: "Hold Up", "6 Inch", "Love Drought", "Freedom", "All Night".
Artist: Santana
Album:
Santana IV
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

These guys take you back almost 50 years with their intense energy and trueness of their special sound. And the tracks are new and fresh. These songs are not as great as their top classics but the listening experience is still excellent. Do not miss out on this treat.
Key Songs: "*too many to list*.
Artist: Mike Pozner
Album:
At Night, Alone
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

Pozner released a set of solid songs with some interesting arrangements. The best tracks are loaded up front in the first half of the disc.
Key Songs: "I Took A Pill In Ibiza", "In the Arms Of A Stranger", "Silence".

Artist: Eric Clapton
Album:
I Still Do
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

With this latest release, the certainly capable Clapton missed capturing the energy and originality some of his past work. From the first to last track everything is predictable. Still this is a fun record despite the dull moments.
Key Songs: *no standouts*.
Artist: The Lumineers
Album:
Cleopatra
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

It is tough to compete with today's music when your album has two average songs at best. There is some descent folk music out there, but it is not on this record.
Key Songs: "Home At Last", "In The Light".
Artist: Polly Jean Harvey
Album:
The Hope Six Demolition Project
Year Released: 2016
Rating:

This "Hope" is for all that Harvey sees in what is wrong today. The songs are original and the set of instumentalists are unusual for what we normally hear these days. This is certainly a different type of album.
Key Songs: "The Community Of Hope", "River Anacostia".
