Artist: Erica Campbell
Album:
Help
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

If you like gospel, you will like this album. The tunes are crafted well enough even if you are not into this genre.Campbell delivers the goods not only within the structure of each track but also when she breaks out into freestyle. And it is her fluent freestyle that highlights her very artsy voice.

Artist: Miranda Lambert
Album:
Platinum
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

A wide range of "country" is presented on this record. You can hear anything from traditional country, and country with and edge, to today's pop-country. This may be an interesting move for Lambert, but without any really hits tunes this will not be counted among her better efforts.
Key Songs: "Girls". "Holding On To You".

Artist: Kem
Album:
Promise To Love
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

Kem's vocals are right. The production is right as well. This record is smooth and easy to listen to. The songwriting is good but could be better. With a couple of big songs this could have been a breakout album
Key Songs: "Downtown".
Artist: Judas Priest
Album:
Redeemer Of Souls
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

Drummer Scott Travis' impeccable timing keeps a tight reign on these metal rockers. Although the songs are different, Priest's latest effort clearly takes us way back in time. As one of the remaining gaurdians of metal, JP really ought to refresh this genre and move it forward.
Key Songs: "Halls Of Valhalla", "Hell And Back", "Beginning Of The End".
Artist: Rascal Flatts
Album:
Rewind
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

Let it be known that the Flatts did not write any of these tunes. Let it also be known that they apparently did not spend a lot of time selecting really good songs, especially with about three dozen songwriters credited on this work. The lyrics are sophomoric, the leads are familiar, and the record lacks originality.
Key Songs: "Rewind".
Artist: Theory Of A Deadman
Album:
Savages
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

These guys start with a full tank, press the pedal to the floor and never run out of gas. You get a few good tunes mixed among mostly average metal and country ones but the velocity is amped throughout. The guitar solos could use a dose of originality. This is not the disc to listen to right before you go to sleep.
Key Songs: "Savages", "Angel", "The One".
Artist: Shakira
Album:
Shakira
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

Pop music has always spanned many genres. This CD covers EDM, reggae, modern country, latin, and of course your typical pop. Most of these songs are strong and the album is easy to listen to from the beginning until the end. The arrangements and productions are very solid.
Key Songs: "Empire".
Artist: Sara McLachlan
Album:
Shine On
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

There are no surprises here. With Shine On, you get that same old familiar Sarah MeLachlin sound and style. Actually, some of these tracks sound like variations of tunes she already recorded. CD sales are plummeting because songwriters who made a difference in the past, are not making a difference today.
Key Songs: "In Your Shoes".
Artist: U2
Album:
Songs Of Innocence
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

Songs of Innocence is a collection of average U2 songs. These eleven tracks sound exactly like other U2 tunes. Nothing rises to the level of their good stuff. When Apple and U2 forced this album down the throats of all iTunes members, the scheme backfired. Perhaps if they gave Joshua Tree away, not as many people would have complained.

Artist: Bleachers
Album:
Strange Desire
Year Released: 2014
Rating:

Simply put, there is no originality here. The music is bland and the lyrics are dull. Just like many similar bands, The Bleachers use the same form format to write each song. Doesn't it make you wonder how this band ever got a recording contract?
